CHAIN CODE Challenge Technology In Sci-Fi Heavy, Proggy Single âIn Lineâ
Debut Album âSynthetic Outcomesâ Out Oct 1st, 2024
Hailing from Milwaukee, USA, but spiritually rooted in another galaxy, Chain Code merges progressive rock with science fiction themes to bring listeners complex and challenging music alongside intelligent and thoughtful lyrics. Following the successful launch of their first single âA New Faceâ, they are back with their second single âIn Lineâ, out now, ahead of the release of their debut album âSynthetic Outcomesâ, set to drop on October 1st. The man behind the music, MuRphry comments on the track:
ââIn Lineâ was heavily influenced by the Marvel character Ultron, an AI machine that both wants humanity and to destroy humanity. This song sees the character ruminating on the flaws of humanity and how he is essentially in line to surpass humans. He is waiting patiently, collecting data, observing, and finally striking out. It begins and ends with a Black Hole Sun(Soundgarden) style oddball heavy and slow, yet beautiful and melodic, riff.â
Unlike the franticness of the first single âA New Faceâ, âIn Lineâ showcases MuRphryâs ability to juxtapose dissonance and chaos with beauty and catchiness. Despite its heavy themes, laid out over eight minutes, âIn Lineâ also showcases the more melodic side of Chain Codeâs sound, offering a beautiful yet unsettling listening experience that perfectly complements the albumâs overarching narrative.
Fans of progressive rock will find themselves drawn to this complex and intricate music, and those with an interest in King Crimson, Voivod, and Dead Kennedys should especially take note.
